Description

Choline promotes a healthy liver by enabling it to metabolize fatty deposits. It works with inositol to help emulsify fats and cholesterol. Necessary for the synthesis of acetylcholine, which transmits impulses from one nerve to another and plays a critical role in memory function.

Inositol aids in the metabolism of fats and assists in reducing blood cholesterol. Inositol occurs in the greatest concentrations in nerve tissue. The high concentrations of inositol in nerve tissues and vital organs suggests it has an important regulatory role. Large amounts are also found in the brain, stomach, kidney, spleen, liver and heart, although levels decrease with age.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Trophic and what is its place in Canadian supplement history?

Trophic is one of Canada's oldest nutritional supplement brands, founded in 1967 in Toronto by Dr. Sloan Alma Smith — the first president of the Canadian Health Food Dealers Association. The brand relocated to Penticton, British Columbia in 1970 and built a legacy spanning over 55 years in the Canadian natural health industry. Trophic was among the pioneering Canadian brands to introduce amino acid-chelated mineral supplements, sold under the proprietary Chelazome trademark. The brand is now part of the Atrium Innovations and Garden of Life Canada family, ensuring continued institutional support and availability.

What makes Trophic's mineral supplements stand out among Canadian brands?

Trophic introduced the Chelazome amino acid chelation format for minerals at a time when most supplement makers were still using inorganic mineral salts. Chelazome bonds minerals to amino acids, mimicking how food-sourced minerals are naturally presented to the digestive system — the result is a mineral form the body recognizes and absorbs more readily. Trophic was among the first Canadian brands to bring this technology to market, doing so decades before chelated minerals became a mainstream supplement category. Founded by the first president of the Canadian Health Food Dealers Association, the brand carries institutional credibility alongside its scientific legacy.
