l-Theanine is a unique amino acid originally found in tea. l-Theanine has also been discovered as a biologically active compound responsible for promoting relaxation. It acts by decreasing cortisol levels during stress and regulating neurotransmitters activity in the brain. In a preliminary non-clinical study, an l-Theanine solution enhanced alpha wave production in the occipital and parietal regions of the brains of volunteers.
