Frequently Asked Questions

What is Neuragen RL and what types of pain is it used for?

Neuragen RL is a topical pain relief oil containing a combination of essential oils and homeopathic ingredients, licensed in Canada (NPN 80039462) for relief of neuropathic pain. It is applied directly to the skin over the painful area and is indicated for shooting pain, burning pain, tingling, aching, and throbbing pain associated with diabetic peripheral neuropathy, post-herpetic neuralgia (shingles pain), fibromyalgia, and other forms of nerve pain. The 5ml bottle is compact and designed for convenient portability and targeted application.

What ingredients are in Neuragen RL and how do they relieve nerve pain?

Neuragen RL contains a blend of essential oils — lavender, geranium, eucalyptus, tea tree, and bergamot — which provide anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties at the skin surface. The formula also includes homeopathic ingredients: aconite (acute pain), St. John's wort (nerve injury support), club moss, phosphorus, poison ivy leaf, and ergot, delivered in an ethanol base. The essential oils penetrate the skin to calm peripheral nerve endings; the homeopathic components are included to address the specific electrical signaling patterns associated with neuropathic pain. The product works locally at the application site rather than systemically.

Who can use Neuragen RL and how should it be applied?

For adult use only. Apply a small amount to the painful area up to 3 times per day. Do not apply to more than 10% of total body surface area, and do not apply to broken or damaged skin. Do not wrap tightly after application and do not use a heating pad over the treated area. Not for use during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Avoid in people with broken, irritated, or highly sensitive skin, or those with a history of eczema or allergic skin reactions. Stop use if nausea, dizziness, headache, or rash occurs. The product has a strong floral scent. Keep out of reach of children.

How does Neuragen RL compare to other neuropathic pain relief options?

Neuragen RL is a Health Canada-licensed topical option for neuropathic pain — a category where prescription options (gabapentin, duloxetine, pregabalin) carry significant systemic side effects including dizziness, sedation, and weight gain. As a topical product, Neuragen RL acts locally at the pain site with minimal systemic absorption, reducing the risk of central nervous system side effects common with oral neuropathic medications. The compact 5ml size allows targeted use on specific pain areas. For patients who want to avoid or minimize prescription medication for mild to moderate neuropathic pain, it offers a licensed, non-prescription option available without a doctor's visit.
