Description

ESSIAC® is a world renowned herbal formula developed by Rene M. Caisse, a Canadian nurse. Since 1922, Nurse Caisse used her original herbal formula to help support the immune system. Rene Caisse is world renowned for making significant contributions to the field of natural medicine.

The herbs in ESSIAC® are grown specifically for Essiac Canada International which are harvested at peak times in order to ensure maximum botanical potency. ESSIAC® is approved by Health Canada.

The four main botanicals in Essiac tea - sheep sorrel, burdock root, the inner bark of the slippery elm and Indian Rhubarb - are each purported by herbalists to have beneficial effects. Sheep sorrel supports the endocrinal system. Burdock root apparently eliminates free radicals and purifies the blood. Slippery elm is believed to help maintain a healthy inflammatory balance in membranes and organs. And Indian rhubarb reportedly helps the body, especially the liver, rid itself of wastes.

  • A more convenient Essiac Tea: The natural herbal remedy, Essiac, was designed to help and normalize the body by aiding in the promotion of effective detoxification of the blood, liver, and lymph nodes.
  • Powerful antioxidants: Essiac is formulated to contain an abundance of powerful antioxidants to aid in promoting overall health and well-being.
  • Strong herbal formulation: one bottle of Essiac Herbal Tea Powder makes 2.5L of strong healing tea packed with vital nutrients
  • The only authentic essiac: During the early 1920’s, nurse Rene Caisse was given the formula by a Canadian Ojibwa Healer. She later prepared her original herbal formula into a drink called Essiac, which is Nurse Caisse’s name spelled backwards, and she dedicated the remainder of her life to caring for patients with her powerful formula

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Essiac and what is the brand known for?

Essiac is a Canadian herbal supplement brand with roots going back to 1922, when nurse Rene M. Caisse began administering an Ojibwa Indigenous herbal formula. The name Essiac is Caisse's surname spelled backwards. Today, Essiac Canada International owns the rights to the original formula, which contains a proprietary blend of burdock root (Arctium lappa), sheep sorrel (Rumex acetosella), slippery elm bark (Ulmus fulva), and Indian rhubarb root (Rheum officinale). The formula is available in powder, capsule, and liquid extract form, and is made exclusively in Canada.

What makes Essiac different from other herbal supplement brands?

Essiac's differentiation is its documented chain of custody. The formula traces directly to Nurse Rene Caisse, who ran a clinic in Bracebridge, Ontario from 1934 to 1942. In 1977, Caisse personally signed over her rights to Resperin Corporation; those rights were later transferred and are now held by Essiac Canada International. This legal continuity is unusual in the herbal supplement industry, where many products claim traditional origins without verifiable documentation. Essiac Canada International exports to multiple countries and markets the product as the sole authorized original formula — not a copy or adaptation.
